Forum des Langues et de la Culture, Tours

Ce weekend, à l’invitation du groupe d’Espéranto de Tours, je suis allé à cette ville pour participer au Forum des Langues et de la Culture. Il y avait des représentants de pas mal de langues et de pays, y compris la Lithuanie où j’ai passé une semaine au mois de juillet. Moi, j’étais là pour donner une présentation à propos de l’Espéranto.

Etant donné que les salles réservées pour les conférences étaient très éloignées des stands de l’expo et qu’on ne faisait quasiment pas de pub du tout, ce n’était pas la surprise de l’année que la présentation samedi n’a pas attiré grand monde — quelques espérantistes, et un seul ami d’un d’entre eux. 😕

Pour dimanche alors, on a imprimé des tractes que l’on a distribués dans la demi-heure juste avant la conf. Comme ça, des personnes qui n’avait pas de plan fixe pour l’après-midi et qui seraient éventuellement intéressées avait beaucoup plus de chance de choisir ma présentation qu’autre chose pour s’occuper… et en fait il y avait plus de monde, et des personnes qui était bien intéressées, qui posaient pas mal de questions intelligentes. 🙂

Un bon résultat finalement, et j’étais bien content de mon weekend.

Je devrais faire mention aussi de mes hôtes pour le weekend (des membres du club d’Espéranto, qui resteront anonyme ici — ils savent très bien que c’est d’eux que je parle). Ils étaient super acceuillants, à la maison comme au resto comme pendant un tour piéton de la ville, et ça a beaucoup rajouté à mon weekend à Tours.

Je remercie également l’association d’Espéranto, qui ont financé mon voyage, mes repas… tout le weekend, en fait.

Forum of Languages and Culture, Tours, France

This weekend, I took up an invitation from the Esperanto group in Tours to take part in the town’s Forum of Languages and Culture. There were representatives of a good number of languages and countries, including Lithuania where I spent a week in July. As for me, I was there to give a presentation — two in fact — about Esperanto.

Now, given that the rooms reserved for the presentations were miles away from the exhibition hall and that we hardly did any publicity work at all, it wasn’t the biggest shock in the world when they weren’t exactly standing in the aisles for Saturday’s presentation. A dozen Esperantists and a sole friend of one of them was about it. 😕

For the Sunday, then, we printed a pile of flyers which we distributed in the half-hour before the start of the presentation. That way, anyone with no particular engagements for the afternoon who might be interested would be much more likely to choose this event over others… and in fact there were considerably more people second time round, and people who were interested and who asked some incisive, intelligent questions too. 🙂

A good result in the end, then, and I was happy with my weekend.

I should mention my hosts for the weekend too (two members of the Esperanto club, who will remain anonymous here — they know it’s them I’m writing about). They were very welcoming indeed, at their house as well as in the restaurants and during a walking tour of, well, Tours, an that added a lot to my enjoyment of the weekend.

I’m grateful also to the local Esperanto, who covered all my expenses for the weekend.

Forumo de Lingvoj kaj de Kulturo, en Tur’, Francio

Ĉi semajnfine, laŭ invito de la loka grupo de Esperanto, mi iris al Tur’ [Tours] en Francio por partopreni en la urba Forumo de Lingvoj kaj de Kulturo. Estis reprezentantoj de nemalmulte da lingvoj kaj landoj, inkluzive Litovio, kie mi pasigis semajnon julie por la Universala Kongreso. Kaj mi, mi ĉeestis por prelegi pri Esperanto.

Nu sciante, ke la prelegaj ĉambroj estis ege for de la ĉefa forumejo kaj ke ni faris preskaŭ neniun reklamadon, ne estis mirege kiam malmultaj aŭskultontoj venis al la sabata prelego — nur kelkaj esperantistoj kaj unu sola amiko de unu el ili. 😕

Por dimanĉo, do, ni presis aron de flugfolioj, kiujn ni disdonis dum la duonhoro antaŭ la preleghoro. Tiel, personoj kiuj havis nenian precizan planon por la posttagmezo kaj kiuj eventuale interesus pri la temo pli verŝajne elektus mian prelegon ol alia plano… kaj ĝuste, estis pli granda kaj pli diversspeca aŭskultantaro je la dua fojo, inkluzive personojn tre interesitajn, kiuj starigis bonajn, inteligentajn demandojn. 🙂

Bona rezulto, finfine, kaj mi tre kontentis pri la semajnfino.

Mi devus skribi ankaŭ iom pri miaj gastigantoj dum la semajnfino (membroj de la Esperanto-klubo, kiujn mi ne nomas ĉi tie — ili tre bone scias, ke pri ili mi skribas). Ili estis tre bonkoraj kaj bonvenigaj, kaj hejme kaj restoracie kaj dum piedrondiro de la urbo, kaj tio aldonis multon al mia ĝuo de la semajnfino.

Mi dankas ankaŭ al la loka Esperanto-asocio, kiu financis mian vojaĝon, miajn manĝaĵojn… la tutan semajnfinon, fakte.
